The glossy shine of the aluminum body and the iconic streamlined silhouette are the true hallmarks of an Airstream. This trailer has long been a classic. Recently, a client came to us with an idea: transform this vintage camper into a cozy summer cabin. You can check out the refreshed interior here. And in this review, we’ll show you how we did the Airstream polishing and upgraded the outdoor space around it.
Our latest polish job shows how a dull airstream trailer can regain its shine. We used a cleaner and buff technique to bring back the aluminum look. The rivets and panels were carefully restored. We also upgraded the wheels: cut, cleaned, painted, filled with concrete, and reinstalled.
- Buffed surface for smooth shiny coating
- Rivet areas polished to avoid dull spots
- Protective coating applied for lasting aluminum look
This polish job transformed the trailer into a glossy and strong summer-ready home.
But the metal polish of the vintage Airstream body was just the beginning. Since the idea was to turn it into a cozy summer home, we also focused on the entire trailer surroundings. First, we cleaned the exterior space from scratch, removed excess bamboo, and leveled the ground. For stability, the trailer was installed on six jacks.
Exterior
We built two decks to enhance outdoor living:
- Rear deck: features a shower and a built-in box housing the AC and water heater
- Front deck: includes a wide entry step for easy access
Both decks were crafted from garapa wood. This hardwood is naturally golden-brown and gains a rich patina over time. It is extremely durable, resistant to rot and insects, and perfect for outdoor use. With its smooth grain and warm look, garapa makes the Airstream changed atmosphere even more inviting.
