5kW Truck Air Heater Installation

This project features a 5kW diesel air heater installation for a truck, completed by the Custom Way team. On this page, you can view photos and videos of the complete diesel air heater installation process. Our specialists handled the full installation process, including heater mounting, fuel system setup, electrical connections, air intake and exhaust routing, and final system testing.

12V 5kW Diesel Air Heater for RV Trucks

We selected a 12V 5kW diesel air heater designed to deliver strong and stable heating while remaining energy-efficient. During start-up, the heater draws 9-13A, then switches to a low 2-4A working consumption. The heater is paired with a dedicated fuel tank, allowing reliable autonomous operation on diesel.

Control options are one of this model’s key advantages. The heater can be operated through a smartphone app via Bluetooth (up to 10 m range), an LCD control panel mounted inside the cabin, or a remote control for added convenience, with an operating distance of up to 30 m.

Truck Air Heater Installation Process

The installation began with preparing the heater unit by securely fixing the mounting plate. We then connected the remote control system and installed the power circuit.

Next, we set up the airflow system, attaching the warm air inlet and outlet hoses, along with the vent pipe. The intake manifold and exhaust system, including the muffler, were installed to ensure proper combustion airflow and quiet operation.

The final stage focused on the fuel system. The fuel line was cut to the required length and connected to the fuel filter and oil pump. After all connections were secured, the system was checked and prepared for testing.

Watch the video below to see every step of the installation process in action, from setup to final testing.

How to Maintain Diesel Truck Air Heaters

Proper maintenance helps your diesel air heater run efficiently and extends its service life.

  • Regularly clean the air filter to maintain steady airflow and reduce dust buildup that can affect performance.
  • Inspect fuel lines for leaks, wear, or restrictions to ensure consistent fuel delivery.
  • From time to time, check all electrical connections to confirm they are tight and free from corrosion.
  • Make sure the exhaust system, including the pipe and muffler, is securely mounted and unobstructed for safe operation.
  • Keep the heater’s exterior clean and free of debris to prevent overheating and unnecessary wear.
