Ford Transit 250 Van Conversion

This Ford Transit 250 came to Custom Way for a full van conversion. The main goal was clear: build a comfortable camper with wheelchair accessibility. We installed a wheelchair lift, raised the floor by 2 inches, and designed a low-threshold shower. The van also received a solar power system, water tanks, storage, kitchen, AC, and ventilation. We started this Ford Transit 250 build with a clear custom plan. The customer needed a smart camper layout with wheelchair accessibility. First, our team prepared the van shell, framing, floor base, and system routes.

Our main work included:

• 800W solar system with four 200W panels
• Victron 70A solar controller
• Three 200Ah Renogy batteries
• Renogy 3000W inverter with ATS
• Renogy 30A DC-DC alternator charger
• Shore power outlet
• Fuse and breaker box
• 55A inverter charger

• Tank level monitor
• 50-gallon fresh water tank

Then, we built the systems around daily use. The floor went up by 2 inches for the shower area. This helped create a lower shower threshold for wheelchair access. Finally, we connected power, water, lighting, outlets, and control panels.

The van has a small custom kitchen with a sink, upper cabinets above the bed, and curtains behind the driver area. We also built two large under-bed storage compartments with gas shocks. The shower sits close to floor level, so the customer can access it by wheelchair. For comfort, we added AC, a roof vent, ceiling lights, outlets, and an electric water heater.
