RV Rear Ramp Door Fabrication and Installation

The RV owner came to us with a damaged rear ramp door. The original door had only plywood and no aluminum support. Over time, it cracked in several areas and felt unsafe. So, we designed and built a brand-new ramp door. In this review, you will see photos and videos of the fabrication, installation, and final result.

How We Built an RV Rear Ramp Door

First, we welded a strong aluminum frame to create a reliable base. Then, we prepared plywood and laminated it with fiberglass for exterior protection. After that, we added foam insulation to strengthen the structure and improve durability.

The ramp includes the following key components:

  • welded aluminum frame for structural strength
  • fiberglass-laminated plywood for the exterior side
  • foam insulation inside the core
  • aluminum diamond sheet on the interior side
  • aluminum sheet with acid primer, epoxy primer, and Raptor coating

Finally, we applied protective coatings to improve grip and reduce sun glare. As a result, the new ramp became much stronger and safer for daily use.
