Sanitizing an RV Fresh Water Tank

Sanitizing an RV Fresh Water Tank

A recent RV owner visited Custom Way because of a strong water odor. Stagnant water often creates this problem inside fresh tanks and water lines. After some time, the water becomes unsafe and unpleasant for daily use. In this post, we show photos and videos of sanitizing an RV fresh water tank and cleaning the entire water system step by step.

Our Process for Sanitizing RV Fresh Water Tanks

For this project, we used a professional cleaner and deodorizer for RV water systems. The product helps remove bad odors and unpleasant tastes from drinking water. It also cleans water tanks, faucets, and water lines. This solution works great for RV fresh water tank sanitizing and long-term system maintenance.

Our team completed the full cleaning fresh water RV tank process step by step.

  • First, we drained all old water from the fresh tank.
  • Then, we filled about two-thirds of the tank with fresh water.
  • After that, we added the special cleaning solution and filled the tank completely.
  • Next, we moved the RV to mix the solution evenly.
  • We left the mixture inside the system for 15 minutes.
  • Then, we opened kitchen and bathroom faucets one by one.
  • We flushed both hot and cold water for about 2 minutes from each faucet.
  • Our team repeated this flushing process twice.
  • Finally, we opened the drain valve under the tank and removed remaining water.
  • We repeated the entire process to fully clean fresh water tank in RV systems.

You can watch the full process with detailed explanations in the video above.
